Welcome to Windrivers DS Maniac.

First, what windows do you have?
Second is the pc a branded pc (acer, hp, packard bell etc)? If so what model?
Third download and install this (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html) It will give you a report about your hardware, post what it says about your sound and your motherboard please.

I am having the same problem as ds_maniac. I was giving a Panasonic cf-50 laptop. the sound used to work until i had to reload xp. Now it doesn't work. I have tried going on Panasonic’s website to download a sound driver but nothing seems to work. I've even tried downloading other drivers as well. In the control panel it's saying no sound device found. After reading your post I downloaded everest. In everest under windows audio, it is blank. I copied and pasted some of the report from everest. In the control panel under sound and audio devices, (under the hardware tab)it says that all of the sound controllers can not start (code 10).

Welcome to Windrivers melrando. In future please start your own thread because if DS maniac comes back, then it can get confusing as to who is doing what.... but for the time being we will continue here.

Well you have managed to install just about every sound driver going... except of course the one that you need... (SigmaTelTM STAC9767 AC-97 v.2.1 Compliant Audio Codec depending on which CF 50 you have)

So first of all, boot to safe mode (press f8 a few times before the Windows screen comes up). Go to add/remove programs and remove ALL sound driver software. Now go to device manager and uninstall everything you listed in the above post, plus any other sound devices except audio codecs and legacy audio drivers and media control devices and video codecs.

Reboot to normal mode (the sound card should detect, cancel the installation for the moment thought) and go to panasonic downloads here (http://tcc.toughbook.com/) and note that there are different drivers depending on which CF-50 you actually have. Everest says CF50-3 but you can see that they differentiate the drives with letters not numbers. Download the appropriate one, and install.

Welcome to Windrivers kristi1369

panasonic drivers are here (http://tcc.toughbook.com/) You will need to register (free) to download them though. You can navigate all the way to the driver, it is just that you must login to be allowed to download.

Welcome to Windrivers pakiviritz
your sony drivers are here (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNS150&UpdateType=Everything) as you can see, they only provide xp drivers. Did you run the compatibility test before installing vista?

here is what Sony have to say (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-info.pl?template_id=1&info_id=141)

I recently upgraded my brother-in-law's CF-50, and had the same problem. (He wanted to go from WIN2K to WINXP PRO)

If you Google "cf-50 drivers" your first hit will be the global page for panasonic where you can dl all drivers you need.
Besides the sound driver you also have to dl the hotkey driver. On your desktop right click on my computer. Select properties. Click the tab marked hardware. Click device manager. Above sound, video and game controllers you should see an unkown device. The Hotkey driver is for this.
At this point I don't recall if I had to reboot or not, but this was the final driver to get the sound working again. Hope this helps you.

Did you get this fixed? I have a Vaio S150P and got vista basic and vista business running perfectly like it came from the factory with vista.. Everything now works. Although I cannot use Aero I found the speed increase great.
