I have an Epson Stylus color 400, I went to print a document after changing the black cartridge and now the printer is "Out of Paper" and wont resume normal operation. Yes, I do have paper loaded.
Any ideas???
Ken
Also, I have move reciently and this is the first time I went to print after resetting up. This shouldnt matter, but who knows.

I don't know any thing about you printer, but there should be a paper sensor on your printer to let it know if it is out of paper. This could be just a very small piece of wire that is pushed back when paper is incerted. This could be damaged or just hung up. Look in the paper feed on the right side of the slot and see if there is a small opening that should have something sticking out of it. Be very careful the parts are small and may brake easy.

Eh.. this might be cause by bi-directional communication because if you are using a normal parallel printer cable it's only a centronic communication where only one way signal is allow at a time Epson printer spooler has a 2-way communication. Just close the spooler manager or uninstall the driver and install it again via ADD PRINTER.

Are any of the ink lights still on on the front of your printer, if so this will generate the error message. anytime an epson printer either has an ink light on or is turned off or other wise not accesable, the software will give u an out of paper error message (kinda like a windows gpf, not descriptive at all.

Well, after taking your advice and checking what was suggested, and not finding anything. I went to use my scanner and that wouldnt work, noticing that the port wasnt reconizing the connection... well to make a long story short... The 6volt transformer for the scanner was melted. Problem solved. Replaced it and everthing is working fine.
I cant belive the stupid error message microsoft gives to that error, "Out of paper" Yea.. that was close!
Thanks all!
