I have an Aptiva running AMD K6-2 475mhz with Win98...When I connect up either of these H-P devices to the USB port my Win98 system freezes... My only recourse is to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and end the tasl titled msgsrv32..My BIOS has USB enabled. My Device Manager under the USB area has SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller enabled and USB Root Hub enabled... I have spent a lot of time on the phone with 4 different tech people at H-P and they say it is a problem with either my USB chipset or Win98... IBM says that they do not give technical advice on third party peripheral devices...So I am stumped... I have followed the installation instructions carefully and have tried various things with the H-P people on the line... Anyone have any suggestions on how to get Win98 to let me use these devices?

My scanner did the same thing at first (ACER USB) I contact ACER and they sent me new drivers. Does you scanner use MIRAScanner Drivers? They said I should turn the scanner on before booting the system up, which is a wrong because the system sits there in the middle of booting up if I do that. So I turn it on and off when I need and It works find.

I would find a BIOS Update for your system and try to find what OEM made the Motherboard and get any Drivers for your CHIPSET, which is SIS.

you can also try this guys out, they are a bit slow sometime in a reply.
