I am trying to burn a cd and it won't work. I have went into device manager and it says that both are working properly but when I go to burn a cd it says it can't find a device. When I put a cd in it will play it. Any clue as to what is causing this?
Thank you

Welcome to Windrivers. We will need some more info. What version of Windows? What program are you using to do the burning? Did this unit work previously?

Open my computer, right click on the cd drive and select properties. On the recording tab, is the box to allow recording checked?

There is no recording tab there. Also when I go to just use the drives it says that E: drive is not accessable. Any other ideas??? I am so lost in toto land with this

beginning to sound like the burning part of the cd drive died... how do you feel about testing the unit in another machine?
You could also try downloading the free version of Deepburner at www.deepburner.com See if that will see the drive as a burner. If not, we can try updating the aspi layer... but one step at a time.

Okey dokey I got it working. I went and downloaded Real player because it had seemed like there was a conflict with programs. It is working and I am burning a cd right now.
Thank you for all your help
