hi can any one please help. i have recently got an acer travelmate 240 . the person i got it from had wiped all the drivers off when he cleared the hard drive. and i dident get any cds with it i have found and reinstaled all the drivers apart from the dvd/cd-rw as i cant find the driver any where . it is a slimtype combo lsc-24082k. it will play cd roms but not dvds or music. and i have run an inspection and it keeps telling me the drive is installed and working properly. and every time i try nero vision it keeps saying drive not ready. :guns:

These combo drives have two lasers, one for dvd and one for cd... if the dvd laser died you would get a no media message... you could prove it by putting the drive in another machine.
