 First of all this is my first Vista machine :) kinda like having first child, excited & elated in the same sentence :) I did not do the install the owner did, so please ask alot of ?s because I am bound to forget something. First I will give you the specs on the PC, its an HP media center m 1070n Intel P4 2.80 ghz.,1.5gb pc3200 ddr sdram,160gb serial ATA hd plus removable onboard 300 gb personal media hd, & upgraded NVIDIA GeForce 6600 graphics card. Original Win Xp Upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium. Now here is how the error reads Runtime error! program:C:\Program Files\HP\hpcoretech\comp\hptskmgr.exe

Did the owner run the compatibility test?
Have you been to HP and looked for Vista updates?
did he read this? (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=426501&lang=en&docname=c00845986)
Get or make a set of system recovery discs (in English). In the event that the upgrade to Windows Vista is unsatisfactory, a set of system recovery discs will be needed to return the computer to its former state.

One or more of his HP printer/scanner/camera/etc. drivers is outdated and needs to be uninstalled, then reinstalled using a Vista-compatible driver. The HP Task Manager is the auto-update, phone-home part of many HP peripheral devices. Get rid of the HP Task Manager and the error will go away.

well of course... you have to uninstall them. You should never just delete an installed program!!

The very first thing I did was try the uninstaller and did not find a link to it there.

It will be part of of the hp computer management software or can be part of the printer software.

I have to appologize on my poor professionalism, I have been swamped & not able to give complete attention to this computer. I will try not to do that to you again, I thank God for you & all the others who have helped me at Windrivers. I will try over the weekend to spend a great deal more time on it.

Ok I uninstalled all the hp printer software using Windows program uninstaller & let the computer run online 12 hours with no error message ,I even did several reboots to make sure it was gone & I am going to let it run another half day as my daughter has dance practice & t-ball registration this morning. Do you have any suggestions as to reinstalling the hardware onsite at this time. Thanks for your help!

You could try installing the XP drivers if no Vista drivers are available but be ready to use System Restore or Add/Remove to get rid of them again. Personally I'd bug HP for updated drivers but that's just me. :)

If it's a standard HP printer, then Vista will have the drivers...
If it's an all in one job, it's going to be more difficult...

Of course it had to be an mfc I am going over to reinstall later today so I will let you know!

If the mfc worked, printed, copied, scanned, etc. the only error is in the phone home part of it, just remove it from startup.

Ok first of all "ALL WENT WELL"! I first tried the hp driver on the original disc, it came back with a red x through the operating system so I hit cancel & logged on to Hp.com to find an updated driver, Hp came back with {Windows Vista has already installed these drivers } so there was no downloads, it was already in the driver database for Vista, but when I plugged the printer into the computer's usb it did not automatically detect the printer, so I went into windows and looked for installed printers ,it was not there`I then selected add printer and it gave me a hundred or so drivers to choose from the printer was an Hp 1350 psc All in one the closest match was a 1310 psc series which worked perfect. I am now the proud PAPA of my first Windows Vista!:thumbs2:

Two things... one this question should be in it's own thread in programming and web design and second...your picture is too big and is a bit scary!
You have to be careful with colour on the web, what looks great to you other people find painful to look at - same goes for animated gifs - too many and it looks busy and crowded. If this is to be a professional site, it needs to be a bit more sober.

I will certainly repost in the correct thread & I do appreciate the honest opinion.
