well i tried booting my IBM computer up and it shows the IBM logo then after it shows that its supposed to load windows xp, but instead a blank screen appears like this saying:

1962: No operating system found. Press F1 to repeat boot sequence.

when i try pressing F1 it just says the same thing...no operating system found.

I purchased a new hard drive and installed that and it still says the same thing. I also have tried booting my windows xp recovery cd and it wont boot it up. i tried starting up the cd rom drive when the computer first boots up and it just goes to the blank screen says no operating system found. It doesnt even try to run the cd-rom drive. im lost CAN SOMEOENE PLEASE HELP MEE!!!!!!

I would recommend checking the BIOS for boot sequence or,trying a new CMOS battery.

well...lets check the obvious first
1) does the computer recognize the drive? go in bios to check
2) go in and reseat drive cables

After seeing you in the chat for a number of times and advising the recommended troubleshooting I can only wonder why you haven't gone and gotten a good known working cdrom and tried that

Sounds like you put the new drive as master and the original drive can no longer be seen. Check the jumper settings on both drives... or did you take the original out?

im not sure but i pressed F1 when the computer booted to get to my settings. and i noticed it said neither hard drive 1 or 0 was installed. i believe my computer is having trouble finding the hard drive. i tried an external cd-rom drive because my cd-rom on the computer wont load and neither did the external cd-rom. the hard drive has been replaced and i still have the same problem. ANY IDEAS???

Yes. You have not adjusted the jumpers correctly and possibly not fitted the ide cable properly.

What is the make and model of both the hard drives?

unhook both hard drives from ide cable and hook only hard drive 0 up or the one the farthest away, reboot and tell us if and where the bios see it..primary master or slave
