floppy disk, running wild

don't know if I'm in the right place for this question but need help with my floppy. Machine operates fine but during the course of the day the floppy drive starts working with no floppy in it, drive light comes on and the only way to get it off is re-boot or put a floppy in drive to read it. Anyone help me. Thanks............

Are you running a virus protecter?
If you are, it will access the floppy drive once in a while or when your shutting down.

Eagle PC is correct. We work on a site with over 300 P.C's. It's a common problem and is worse with some virus detection programs than others.
