How to change the settings of the keyboard?

Some chatacters from my keyboard are not displaying, instead I get other characters. I know you all know what I mean. I remember there used to be a way to change the keyboard, It was in control panel, keyboards, and then you just changed the region your keyboard was from and boom, you got different characters in some keys. But I do not find it in my windows XP. Where is it? Or how can I change the settings for the keyboard?

open the control panel got to regional and language options click the language tab then the details button..you can add a language and give it English properties...

I tried it, but it was already set for English United States. Any suggestions on how to make my keyboard work properly? Like this question mark, It took me like five tries looking for it. It is in place of the underscore.

You can add a new language and set it to English in the locale.

Has it always done this? What changed? is it possible you have a virus or spyware causing the characters?

What spyware and anti virus have you installed since you last had spyware issues back in Nov/Dec?

Have you been exposed to any infections, sites known to cause infections or emails, cd's?

Are you using a firewall?

Actually, It was my friend's computer. He says it always did this, I believe from day one when he first set it up he thought setting his language to Spanish was a good Idea. When he brought it over to me to fix that nasty red screen desk top with the biohazard symbol (http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=79621) he asked me to replace the keyboard settings. It turned out he could not find it either.

Who would have thought youtube had the answer. It is hard to see, but if you pay attention... well.... I fixed it.

When I deleted the Spanish Keyboard, only the English United States Keyboard remained (he had both of them) it is set by default to United States-Dvorak. By the way, What is "Dvorak"?

No matter what I did it would not accept UK English so I deleted the US English and my keyboard is now working properly.

By the way the composer Dvorak was born in Prague which was then part of the Austro Hungarian Empire but is now Czech Republic.

Same thing happened to me. My friend had both "U. S. English" and "Spanish México" in there. I deleted the Spanish one.
