My son recently installed this tape backup on my computer. It's internal.I'm running Win 98.I have a CD Rom and an SD120 Superdisk also installed. Each has been assigned a drive letter,EXCEPT the Ditto Max:
A-Floppy
C-Hard Drive
D-Superdisk
E-CD Rom
Iam new so don't laugh. Is the Ditto Max suppose to have a drive letter assigned and if so,how do I go about doing it?The unit is working just fine. There is an icon on task bar for backup, ect. It DOES NOT show in My Computer as either an installed or removable drive. There is a drag/drop feature I could use IF it had a drive letter. An accelerator card was also installed with the unit.

Tape drives are usually not assigned a drive letter. Some will show up in device manager, but some of the older ones won't. Whether they show up in device manager or not, however, they will usually only work through your backup software. Try running Microsoft Backup and check that it sees your tape drive. If MS Backup doesn't work there are probably other backup programs that will see it, as long as it is installed properly.
