I have several Gateway 2000 laptops with modular CDROM and floppy drives. I cannot get the laptop to install and recognize the CDROM. It appears in My Computer and in Explorer, however I get the messsae, device not ready when I try to use the drive. It appears to be working correctly in the Devices list. The CDROM is Matsu****a 6x. It worked well with Windows 3.1, seemed to work with Win 95, stopped working with Win 98. I ran fdisk and went back to FAT 16 and reloaded Win 95. No luck.
