I have a Iomega scsi zip drive. I also have a scanner that is scsi. I was wondering if I could use the scsi card from the scanner for the zip drive or does it have to be a certain one? I have a Umax 6010s with a UDS-IS11 isa card. I did try with no success but maybe I am doing something wrong thats why I am asking.

Is this an internal or external Zip drive?
On most SCSI cards you can only use the internal and not the external, or visa-versa.
If you have an adaptec 2940 with 3 outlets, you can only use 2 of them.
If both devices are external, you will have to run them both off the same cable, and at the end of the cable, that device should be terminated. The devices in the middle of the chain should be unterminated.
Hopefully I didn't confuse you.

It is an external zip drive. I understand what you mean by the chain being term. and unterm. I can try this but what about without the scanner hooked up just the zip drive? or do I have to have the scanner hooked up too.

If you want to use both devices, you would have to link them both and turned on before booting your computer.
If your Zip drive is not recognised with that SCSI card, then you might want to look at an Adaptec SCSI card, to run both devices.
Or you can also run 2 seperate SCSI cards in your machine.
