Anyone have a good vendor to look at?

Hello I'm looking to buy one or two 1 Gb PC2700 sticks of RAM. I just got dragged back into Star Wars Galaxies and apparently the memory requirements are a bit more than I used to have. Since I'm an eye candy fanatic it's something I need to do. Unfortunately I'm in very very dire straights with my personal budget for the next 2 months or more. So basically what I'm asking is does anyone have a good vendor for pricing on Kingston or Crucial memory? I did a check on price watch and I'm trying to see if there is anything out there that can beat the prices I'm looking at. (Though I highly doubt it)

Uh that would be why I'm looking for pc2700 (it's what my board can take)..... plus I can't have any higher than a 1GB stick per slot. I know you don't mean to offend but don't worry when it comes to my hardware. All I need is a price search I know the rest.

yeah was just kind of hoping maybe someone might know of a better vendor than what was there. I'll just have to scrounge up an extra bit of money I guess.

Eh maybe so, I'm pretty good at scrounging sometimes so maybe I'll be able to dig up a piece or two from some junked systems from a client or something. (With their permission of course)

I think OMGmissinglink was suggesting that many motherboard makers have published lists of APPROVED ram for each specific board and thus you would have a list of manufacturers that you could then shop against.

Even if we went that route they only suggest 3 makers: Kingston, Crucial, and Samsung. On top of that I only prefer the first 2. I apologize for being tempermental today, just lack of sleep. The sound of rain makes people sleepy but for a light sleeper it's like trying to sleep through a parade. I'm just a picky person when it comes to my gaming rig. Work machines and comm stations I make work with what is put in them, but for my relaxation medium I want my preferred list of components.

A website that I have seen with fairly good pricing is zipzoomfly.com. I have purchase from them several times in the past.

Define "vendor" Niclo. If you mean a brand of memory, I like Kingston, Crucial, Patriot, and Corsair at the retail level. As a dealer and OEM, I'd add Lifetime Memory because they make so many modules for Apple, HP, et. al. they can usually supply me with almost any requirement I have for a module with Brand X chips and performance spec Y. If they build it for anyone, I can buy it.

If you're looking for retail vendors, newegg.com and zipzoomfly.com would be my first choices. I'd always try to match performance specs for any memory I was considering to the specifications of your mainboard manufacturer's recommended memory. In other words, memory with the same timing and latency as the recommended modules usually works regardless of manufacturer. Really cheap memory, or decent brands that deviate from the specs may not work or perform correctly.
