BBC: Computer knowledge 'undervalued' (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7143417.stm)

"Computer skills are still undervalued in the UK board room, according to software giant Microsoft."

I have never worked for any company that has treated IT as anything other than something akin to an unwelcome lodger from another planet -- feared, despised, uncomprehensible, but necessary to if mortgage payments are to be made.

And this surprises you because?

If you want to frighten the board, work out how many clerks would be needed to replace the computers for the monthly billing run and then work out the wages, the cost of the extra office space and then compare that figure with the IT budget....
