Hello :O)
Well, To make a long story short, Ordered a Xerox Ducomate 250 for my client which came without Cd, Cable and manual, I was promised new one a day after to find out again missing same stuff, So went to Avision AV210 scanner.
Installed to AV-210 on freshly formatted Pentium 4 2.4 computer (xp pro), To find out it gives error in it's basic program (highspeedscanning.exe module error in Avcapture program) from time to time (Can be few times a day, or once every few days).Since the program suits the client's need (Scan document directly into PDF), I contacted Avision support in taiwan, And they asked me to try other Avcapture versions, But they were less stable that the one that came with the scanner CD, So I left it as it is, While I still search for another program to do this PDF scanning job.
That was all about a month ago.
Bought another AV-210 to another new client of mine, And didn't managed to scanner to work in a stable way on his P4 XP pro computer too. I managed to make one of the avcapture version work on his computer (Not the one that came with the scanner cd by the way, But one I downloaded from avision site v. 1.63), But then when i wanted to scan colored PDF, He seem to scan and I got no document in the end of the scanning process. When I changed it to gray scanning all was fine, And when I went back to color it was ok again for 1 or 2 times.....
I got fed up from Avcapture, So I decided to install the paperport software that came with the scanner to find out after few times it worked, that it stopped recognising the scanner (It recognised it until you pushed the SCAN button on the software). Few restarts of the computer didn't resolved the problem.
Talked to avision support in Israel, But haven't got better news from them. I wondered if anyone experienced this stability issues with these scanners, Or some can reccomend me a more stable solution (Fujitsu ?)
Thank you

Seems to be a lot of them sold, so it may be a quirkie driver.

Have you tried compatability mode for 98 or ME ?

Hey CCT.
No, I haven't tried or even thought of that. my scanning needs are so basic, That is it can't function in a stable way with it's own driver and software, I have a problem...

LOL @ "Sh1t 799.99 us dollars for that scanner. I would think you should have cables and program and driver cd included!!"

I guess you get them only with the "PRO" version of the scanner :O)

The funny thing is that I found out later that AVISION is the manufacturer of the professional xerox scanners....Maybe they sent an undercover agent to make damage to xerox reputation.....

Is the client running office? Does the client have the scanning/ocr module for office installed? If it's 2007, you can scan to office then save as pdf...

I like my epson scanner and the other cheap and cheerful scanner is mustek.

LOL @ Cheerful scanner....Mustek is so-so scanner in my opinion (I worked at the israeli official dealer few years ago).
Thanks for the tip Noo, But even though I didn't tried it, This client doesn't have office 2007, And it seems a bit more messy, Since another software need to archive the scanned files.

Hip, the best scanners/printers/multifunction I've found are Canon. From the cheapest scanner to the high end, their products are reliable, tough, and their tech support is excellent. I've found that can't be said for Xerox. It's unlikely that I will ever buy, sell, or recommend another Xerox product.

I'll consider canon. I have a deaf friend that loves canon so much, everything that he buys for the computer made by canon...Scanner,Printer,Camera.....Good for them they don't sell hearing aids.....
I also had a client who bought 1500$ A4 compact scanner with feeder about 4 years ago, And he is in the printing business, And he bought it after searching the market for a stable solution. So thanks for the tip.
I talked to the dealer I buy stuff from, And I am trying to ask him for the option of one of the companies to lend me professional scanner before I buy one next time for a few days, So I can see how it works before I spend money....
I think that in that way I can even try Xerox... :O)
