I've just tried to install Nero 6.6 on my Vista Computer but windows tells me there are compatibility problems. So I went to the website to see if there are any updates I could download to solve this problem, but I couldn't find any. Does anyone know of any updates I could get? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You'll need Version 7.5 or higher for Vista compatability.

Even though some sources nominate 7.5, that seems to be the minimum where Vista compatability started, and v7.7.5.1 was the first considered fully Vista compatable.

Nero 8 is available, and if you own 6.6, you probably qualify for discount pricing. I was running Nero 7.9.x, and didn't have any significant problems except for Vision Express, which just seems to get more unreliable and buggy with each new release.

Thanks for your help, but the version of Nero I got was the free one you get with your DVD Burner which is just the stripped down version. Also I really don't want to pay for an upgrade I just want this one to work.

No way for 6 to work on vista.
Nero is one of the few programs I truly feel I got my money's worth
on when i bought it.

HEE HEE since we are talking about Nero, I do not believe we need to start a new thread, (What do I know) Anyhoos I feel that nero 7 and above
controls your CD roms. to an over extension. I have a Sh1t load of burned cd`s and sometimes I do not label all that is on cd. I will put in rom and explore, without Nero 7 I can explore disk. with Nero7 computer hangs
and I have to hit the reset button to get out of it. When it hangs only
thing showing is walpaper no task bar, no start button, No Icons of anykind.
what also seems wierd, I can right click rom with nothing in it to get to properties to change functionality. and IT will still hang..

I feel my thread has been Hijacked (Just kidding)
I gave up on Nero 6.6 working in Vista so I went to http://fileforum.betanews.com/browse to look for a free one. I tried about 5 of them and they all seem to work fine, some easier to use than others. But they all have the same flaw, none of them will do a disk to disk copy. What's with that? Anybody got any ideas?

That really depends on exactly what disk your trying to copy.
A dvd is very difficult to do a disk copy of .
Doing a disk copy for a data disk is simple.
Game disks are not very easy either all because of write protection.

What I mean is they have no disk cloning function in their program. That's what I found so odd, that not one of the 5 programs I tested offered that.

If it is music you can use windows media player, Then rip and burn. But
then you have to delete library if you do not want to keep it on your computer. Also if your computer permits you can go to start, accessories,
windows explorer. and copy to your folder you have on C drive. (That you made before you tried to copy from Disk)

I think maybe your nero is broke or something cause disk copy is there in Nero burning rom

xpuser357: I've never been a big fan of burning music using Windows Media Player. Tried it once didn't like it.

No Ferrit it's not that my Nero won't clone disks, my version 6.6 won't work under Vista. It's the 5 free programs I down loaded and tried from http://fileforum.betanews.com that won't clone disks and I thought that rather odd.

Well, all software has some limitations that seem really annoying. In some cases, the functions you'd like to have are there, but just difficult to use. Sometimes they are just missing altogether. Deepburner is about the only freeware burning software I've experimented with, and I wasn't excited.

I've been a longtime Nero user, but I recently bolted the fold and bought Easy Media Creator 10. Nero 8.0 has better support for newer digital media formats like AVCHD, but I had so many problems with Nero Vision that I finally gave up on it.

If you need a comprehensive set of CD/DVD burning tools, you are most likely stuck with payware. If you want to avoid that route, you can do all the basic tasks directly in Vista. But, yeah, it can be cumbersome.

FYI your trial version of Nero has most likely ran out, Multipule burning programs installed can cause conflicts, Nero 7 Express will work fine you might run updates once installed.

I got a hold of Nero 7 and it works well. Now if Microsoft can just get Vista to work well.

mine as well add my 2 cents..

I've burned ISO's of XP and Vista with nero in vista, most of the time, i get weird errors when installing the OS, however, if i burn the same iso in xp/linux, i have no problems at all. Most things Nero is good on, but a few odd issues still need to be sorted out.

NERO 7 Home Video
Hi!
Does someone know if a video Card is needed + Software for the Nero Home video to work? Have S-video AV Cable (from computer) to RCA TV Cable. But it doesn't seem to work. Says in manual under under

Optional: "Special minimum Requirement for individual programs"
TV tuner or Video cature card for analog recordings.
+ Installation of the latest WHQL certified device drivers recommended
Also: besides the RCA red, yellow, white Cables, is the TV cable needed to the computer?
Could someone elaborate on this + device drivers
Thanks so much

It will depend on whether your video card has capture capability, often called VIVO (Video In/Video Out), such as that provided by an ATI All-In-Wonder.

The S-video connector on a card that has no video input capability will just have A/V outputs to send the VGA screen to a TV.
