BBC: New car powered by compressed air (http://news.bbc.co.uk/player/nol/newsid_7170000/newsid_7171000/7171043.stm?bw=bb&mp=wm&asb=1&news=1&ms3=54&ms_javascript=true&bbcws=2)

As with all alternative technologies, they gloss over or fail to mention the energy/pollution costs. Air compression requires energy; energy costs; energy production produces pollution.

Very interesting, though. And very (projected) low cost.

If the link above doesn't work (as in there is a time out on it), a link to the story can be found on the page here (for the next while at least):

Interesting... I wonder if the politicians can use their own hot air to power their cars and not have to stop to refuel.

So it will do 120 miles between refuels and top speed of 65 mph... perfect for my daughter who will be able to refuel the air herself!

Compressed air is usually created by electricity - electricity can be created from wind/wave/solar energy, so yah, it can have a very very low cost. I wonder if it can be refuelled using a foot pump... it would take a while, but I suppose you could do it.

it will surely need a very high pressure air compressor which require lot of power to operate,i thing it is all a bunch of hotair, lol
