Intel 810 and 815 integrated sound problem

Hi
We make a lot of systems with Intel 810 and 815 motherboards which have AC 97 sound card.
The problem is that in win98 and windows me the sound output is very low and we have to use very high powered amplified speakers to get a decent output and we simply have to forget using headphones.
Is there a registy hack through which i can increase sound volume?

eemmm..
FYI i also installed many mobo based on 615 chipset with AC97 and we had not encountered any problem like yours...
can you please be more specific-which brand of mobo? did you use the autosetup included in mobo?etc.... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm1.gif
