I need a driver for the built-in sound card in a Compaq Presario Notebook 1200XL118 for Windows 2000.
Compaq doesn't have one.

Can you tell us what type of soundcard is it? (SoundmaxII,etc..)

This is the only thing I could find on Compaq's website concerning Presario's and Win2000 drivers for audio:
<a href="http://web14.compaq.com/falco/detail.asp?FAQnum=SP17493" target="_blank">Presario 1200 ADI SoundMax2 Audio Driver for Windows ME/2000</a>. The Installation Instructions lists the applicable models...sorry, your's does not show up.
The following link says that you have <a href="http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_syn.asp?detail=yes&recid=SP17363" target="_blank">Via WDM Audio </a>in your Presario.
Go here for a selection of <a href="http://www.compaq.com/support/files/notebooks/us/locOsCat/20_1.html" target="_blank">Win2000 audio drivers from Compaq's website</a>.
Hopefully, you'll be able to find one that works for you...Good Luck!
