I'm trying to install a hp 2610.

This printer is impossible to install without HP support since they have so many quirks in their software.
They used to walk you through and show you how to disable the firewalls as needed. Now their software says it will open a port to get past the firewall, so you don't have to disable it.

They must have had problems with helping people disable their firewalls because now they refuse to help with it. HP support sucks.

So , I know you have run something like .....svs, in xp.

I forgot what the exact name is of what I have to run.

It's straightforward. Go to Control Panel, open the Windows Firewall icon and simply turn if off temporarily.

I'm using norton ( symantec) system works, so I have that firewall installed instead of the windows firewall.

I had to get into services.msc to temporarily disable the norton and symantec programs.

It was the services.msc that I forgot the name of.
