Recently I purchased Panasonic SDR-H40 camcorder. I installed the softwares from the CD , received with the it. When I plugged the camcorder to my Acer Aspire 5630 laptop & Windows vista Home Premium - 32 bit through USB cable, Vista started detecting the camcorder and showed me message as "Installing Device Driver". However after 10-15 secs, it showed me message as "Failed"

I tried several times , but all in vain.
I checked the Device Manager (when the camcorder was plugged to the laptop), it was displaying the camcorder as "Unknown Device".

However the Panasonic says that , it supports the VISTA.
Check here http://panasonic.net/pavc/camcorder/hdd/global/products/sdr-h40/specifications.html.

Any Clue? How can I connect the the camcorder to my PC?

Welcome to Windrivers prasad

Given that this is a new camcorder, have you considered phoning Panasonic?

There doesn't seem to be a download for the user manual, where it may differentiate between usb for the memory card and usb link for the hard drive.

There is usually a menu selection that must be made on the camcorder for the installation to work.

Did you install the software first before you plugged it in?
Run the cd first and then connect the usb cable/

I tried that, but all in vain, Windows is detecting the camcorder, but could not find the drivers. I redirected it towards the CD for searching the drivers, but the result I received is " No Drivers found".

The panasonic support site is not terribly helpful - but this might work (http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/e_cam/download/downdvc_usb.html)
