I installed a new hard drive into my systemax computer, and after that i couldnt hear any sound on my computer. i went into device manager and there were question marks beside the multimedia controller, the PCI simple communications controller and a few other things. i disabled them and downloaded the realtek AC'97 but i still have no sound.

Here is the information on my computer:

Enter your info there and get your mobo downloads at source.

edit: use socket 478 - you maybe have to look at the mobo to get the specific model - 2 like yours with slightly diff version - then again, compare and maybe they use the same download.

Since you installed a 'new' hd did you also re-install the OS or just clone it?

If re-installed, did you install the chipset drivers? If not, that site has those also. They are the FIRST thing you install after the OS.

Probably because we all read "I installed a new hard drive into my systemax computer, and after that i couldnt hear any sound on my computer. i went into device manager and there were question marks beside the multimedia controller, the PCI simple communications controller and a few other things." and just did the usual.

You have the ball.

k_fisher102290, you cannot expect the device to work if you disabled it!
