Hi.

Installed a new xp sp3 computer in a client existing network which is connected via ASUS ADSL router and intel hub.
Can't seem to use network printers. Am able to install them, But it gives me printing failure messages.
Tries an LPT printer AND a network printer.
Another thing is that I can't seem to see other computers on the network when I click search for computers, But I am able to used shared drives by adding them manually.

Please advise.

Thanks

Printer mystery solved. There is a bug in xp sp3 which won't let you print test page, But when you print from a program it works fine.
What still annoys me is that I can't browse for computers in the same network, But I (Well the client actually) can live with it....

The browsing for computers would be about a firewall setting...
Not had the problem with the printer test page with sp3 here... got a link for that?

Disabled firewall (Installed NIS 2008, And disabled it for few minutes - So no windows firewall as well), And it didn't helped as I recall.....

I haven't seen this happen with any of my SP3 installations, so I found it really interesting. I'm scheduled for some routine work at a client who uses an older HP Deskjet, and a Xerox workgroup printer,so I can't wait to see if this glitch effects their stuff the same way.

Yo Slg !!!

Please do let us know how it behaves.
Just for the record. I've installed unattended xp sp3 integrated cd, And did all the latest MS updates.
Also installed Net Framework 3.5 redistributable offline.

So far, I haven't replicated the problem with a Canon IP4200, a Xerox DocuColor 3535, HP Deskjet 970, or a Canon IP6700D. But, I still have some SP3 follow-up visits and installations to do on systems with HP printers. Interesting glitch. I'll let you know.
