driver problem

i recently bought an alienware computer, i installed a game that wouldn't uninstal so i reformatted it knowing i had nothing to lose. It turns out that no sound anything is installed, i have a creative 5.1 X-gamer, and i try to instal drivers and it says its not detected, i have no volume control at the bottom right of the screen or anything, please help me!

Go to device manager (Right click on My Computer and select properties) and look under 'Other Devices' for something like 'Multimedia Audio Device'. Remove all entries under the 'Other Devices' heading and then close Device Manager and try to install the drivers, using the installation program.
