Hi, Was asked to install an ethernet port on an aging machine & chose a belkin f5d5000 pci ethernet card. Upon restart the machine installs the drivers for the card and then prompts me to insert the win98 cd which has been lost many years ago. Is there anything i can do? All i want is to install an ethernet port, didnt reckon id have these problems.

Hello anderson78! The first thing to do is look around on the hard drive and see if the Win98 directory has been copied from the installation CD to the computer. If you find it, you just have to point Windows to that directory when it asks for the CD. Otherwise, you may need to come up with a disk. If you have a local computer users group it shouldn't be hard to find one. You can legally make a copy of the CD and use it on a machine that has a legal copy of W98 installed.
