all your drivers are here (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=948&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Home+Edition&lang=eng&strOSs=45&submit=Go!)

Install 2. Chipset driver first, restart the machine and then install 5. Audio, ADI 1985

In device manager under soundmax integrated audio, is there any error or does it say the device is working properly?

Do you use the modem? - disable the unimodem half-duplex audio device and restart the machine. This device has been known to interfere with normal audio in the past.

That's a check box in control panel> sounds on the general tab...
Glad it's fixed. Was it disabling the modem sound that fixed it?

You need DVD playing software. Often computers come with PowerDVD or WinDVD.. if you haven't got a copy, you can buy one or use the free DVD player VideoLan here (http://www.videolan.org)
