An amazing array of personal information can be purchased online at nominal cost. It isn't even clear if the information is illegally obtained or not. Yeah, the last time my identity was stolen, it was promptly returned with a complimentary offer of two betters ones and a sympathy card. Guts3d March 25th, 2009, 05:06 AM Similar story, the better half and I went on vacation and stopped in at Sears the night before to pick up a sundry item. The clerk decided we looked like a couple who were less that intelligent ( Ok, I looked like a rube ) and cadged our credit card #'s. She then transferred $2,000 in debt to our new card, and we were in New Hampshire visiting her relatives when they told us the card was being investigated for suspicious activity. Somehow, they were able to figure out who the culprit was. Luckily, we had my cards or we would still be walking home. Thing that ticked me off, they made everything correct but refused to let us know if they tossed her in jail, etc. windrivers.com
