Soundless
December 19th, 2000, 08:34 PM
I have changed soundcards. Ensoniq to Soundblaster. I have a Gateway P5-200. I have 32MB of RAM. I changed the hardware and when I loaded the software and drivers it froze up. Then I loaded the software again. It froze up again. When I tried to reboot, it would freeze up at the Windows screen. I could only proceed in safe mode where I had to disable the soundcard. After that it would boot fine, but alas no sound. The techs at Creative don't seem to be able to help.

Hi,
Try booting into Safe Mode...remove any and all references to your Sound Card. Shutdown...power off the CPU cabinet. Go in and physically remove the sound card...put it in another slot if you have one available...or just put it back into the same slot. Power up and check BIOS for proper config of PCI slots. Let Windoze boot up and find it...when it asks, tell it that you Have the Disk for the drivers...then Browse to the location of your drivers...hopefully, it'll start flying for you.
Good Luck!
