Hi All,

Hope someone can help. I have recently formatted my hard drive and re-installed Win98. Unfortunately, my sound card is no longer recognized. I have downloaded the drivers and switched the card in and out of slots. Nothing seems to help. Windows only goes as far to say it is a PCI Multimedia Device. Here are the specs:
-AMD K6-3 450
-Creative SB PCI128
-Asus P5A SS7 ATX Form Factor
I used driver e128up9x.exe from Creative. Please Help.

Thanks,

I think you used an upgrade driver (up) you need to download the orginal driver before you can put in an upgrade.

download correct driver from creative, unzipit, remove all sound devices listed in system properties, reboot system and when windows asks for driver insert floppy disk with drivers and click on have disk.

this should do it.
Good Luck

Well,
I should have been more specific, I actually did install the driver first, however, windows couldn't recognize the driver as the one for the hardware. I then installed the upgrade hoping that that would do it. Also, I probably should have mentioned that I've checked the IRQ and made sure it was set to 5, I also tried 10.

Thanks for the reply, any more ideas?

Thanks again
