Ok, ive been sitting in front of my computer screen for over 10 hours now installing a completely new harddrive and all the system components. at this point im about ready to just tear my computer into pieces. I have everything i need done except getting my soundcard detected. It's an Ensoniq audio pci. thats all i know about it. im on a gateway right now too, btw. ive tried boot detecting it as well as using the add hardware manager, neither one found it. ive used the system restoration cd where HURRAH! i found my sound card....except that even after i loaded it and rebooted my sound card still wasnt recognized. I even became so desperate as to load EVERY creative or ensoniq driver on my comp...to no avail. the problem, i think, stems from when i try to load the "ensoniq audio pci" driver under 'add new hardware'. it gives me some crap about putting in the audio pci driver 95 cd, but i dont have one. i tried looking for the files it wanted on both my os discs and the sys. resore cd but couldnt find anything. im currently dl'ing a file from this site that was called ensoniq audiopci drivers for win. 95 and hopefully it'll work, but with my connection it'll be a while till its done and i wanted some help if it doesnt work. ill post here if it does work as soon as i try it.
thanks in advance for any help at all.

I am hoping this will help you....When asked to insert the disk with the drivers on it, choose D: then choose browse CD..look in the directory usually called audio, then ensoniq, then win9x.You will then see a file on the left side of the screen highlighted in blue called an ".inf" file.Choose ok and then the sound should work.If you downloaded the drivers from www.soundblaster.com (http://www.soundblaster.com) there are 2 downloads needed for that particular card.

thanks for the help. i had already tried that and it didnt work though. however, i did fix my problem. after i screwed up my video driver(dont ask how, im still not sure), i had to re-format the drive, so when i installed windows 95 I installed the sound driver THEN, and then i upgraded to windows 98. and my sound driver stayed so it works now and im happy.
