I upgraded a pcchips m571 motherboard from windows 95 to windows 98. Now on shut down I get an MSGSRV32 error. When we take out the sound pro drivers the system shuts down ok.
Each time I load the updated sound pro drivers it keeps loading the windows 95 drivers.
What is the best way to get rid of the windows 95 driver so that the windows 98 drivers will load?

I had the same problem,so after 2 weeks tring to fix it i disabled the onboard sound card and install a Yamaha 32PnP sound card now win 98 shut down without the error. This is not the fix I wanted but it works.

If you remove the soundcard from devce manager, next time you reboot and it asks for a driver, simply say "Have Disk." Then you can use the win98 driver by just telling the machine where it is.
If the machine is installing the drivers automatically and not letting you select a driver, you will need to find the INF file for the Win95 version of these drivers. Once you have the name of that INF file, find it in c:\windows\inf directory and delete it (or move it out of the INF directory if ou want to keep a copy). Then, again, delete the SC from device manager and reboot. It will now ask you for a driver for the new device it detected.
