I finished up installing win2k pro on my brand new computer that I built. I am kind of lacking in the win2k skills department, and i dont know how to get around this problem.
I have an Elsa Gloria II graphics card, which i installed first, then planted all the drivers. It's stuck at 16 colors and it aint pretty. The next intruction is to install the monitor, a Samsung 950p and all it's drivers. I put in the disk, select my monitor, and before i know it i get this error...
"Samsung Monitor Setup: Error occur, while installing monitor adapter(Error code 259)"
The funny thing is i can run openGL stuff but there are only 16 colors. It's the damn monitor and it's drivers. I haven't a clue what this means. I'm going to check out the samsung website now, but if anyone knows whats going on, it'll save me a lot of time. thanks .

You should be able to find your Samsung monitor driver files here (http://www.samsungsupport.com/bbs.htm)... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm3.gif

The problem is whether I get the drivers off the web site or off of the Syncmaster 950p CD, i still get the same error.

Try selecting a plain 'ole PnP monitor. Better yet, go into Device Damager, er.., Device Manager and delete your monitor from the list of devices. Restart W2K and try installing the monitor driver again.
Maybe you can exorcise that demon from your computer... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm28.gif

Any chance you can try another monitor or connect yours to another box? One of my monitors is a Samsung (not a nice one like yours)and it took the PnP drivers just fine. Once you prove out the monitor one way or the other, maybe you can get a 1-800 for your Vid borad and drop it in their laps. GL2U

I tried the device damager ;] but there's no device for my vga adapter or anything. The gloria 2 card does read though. I'll try swapping the video cards and monitors when i get back. Let's hope everything goes fine because i dont wanna pay 2600 for a vegtable.!

Crap now I'm having another problem... i was messing around in the bios and i changed the multipler setting and everything.. 7.5 x 133, i think it was 11x 100 before. Now the computer won't even start. I think i should've done the over clock trick with the pencil before messing with that.

Make sure you set your video to "Standard VGA" and restart Windows before shutting down to install a new video card. Otherwise, you'll probably be doing a safe mode startup to resolve that issue... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm3.gif
