unknown frame buffer mode

i'm getting this (unknown frame buffer mode)error msg when i'm trying to start the game Morrowind (and if i rememeber right this isnt the first time i'm getting his error).
i'm using voodoo4 under winXP
any ideas what does it mean and how it can be fixed?

The Voodoo isn't officially supported, as there aren't any DirectX 8.1 drivers, but some people are reporting partial success with Voodoo5's, others are having the same problem as you are.
