choice of favorite monitor

I know this will be a loaded question because everyone has their own horror stories about every type of equipment ever created. I will be looking for a new monitor in the near future. This will be mainly for just goofing around and playing games. I was just curious about everyone thought was a good monitor to get. Basically anything over a 19 inch will work.

I have a nice samsung and a cheap targa, kinda hard to tell between them. Mostly down to dot pitch, the lower the better.

Do you want something cheap or something that won't give you a headache after your eyes being glued to it for hours on end.... As far as picture tube monitors go, you can't really beat the Sony Trinitron or Mitsubishi tubes. We use Viewsonic here at work with a great deal of success too if you want a cheaper alternative. The other day I saw an 18 or 19" Sony flat screen for a lot less than I was expecting for a flat screen... If you want a fun toy, go flat! :D

i have a samsung 17 and home, i love it. i have used alot of AOpen monitors in the past, they are ok. but lately i have been using hitachis, they are great monitors. i just ordered the HITACHI CM721F 19 from newegg for my cousin, .20 dp, 18 viewable. came out to like $290 after shipping, not too shabby

Try before you buy. Work out what res you're going to be using, and make sure you've got the a decent refresh rate at that (1280*1024 @ 85Hz here).

I have a MAG 15" Flat Screen that I just love. It took about 2 days to get used to looking at a flat screen compared to a tube but once my eyes got adjusted, I couldnt be happier.

They are also nice because they take up so little space! And they are just plain cool!

If I were to buy another CRT monitor (which I wont) I would go with a Sony probably. They make really great monitors and have a great product line.

The flat panel generally refers to LCD display

Mitsubishi Diamondtron's are supposed to be at leasst as good as Trinitron's, cost less as well.
