have a First MB va503t
have a 64m dimm in ...add a 128m but only get 128 not 192m...manual says different size dimms can be used ...both pc100 manual does not refer to a jumper for different size dimms ....any thoughts

Is the larger DIMM in Slot 0?
Are you sure the 128MB is PC-100?
Usually if it's 66Mhz it will only show half of the DIMM.

It's the kingston value ram ...says pc100

Where are you getting the figure for the amount of DRAM installed? The reason I ask is the only place that mine gives the correct amount is in System Properties under the Performance tab. I have had benchmarking utillities that gave incorrect amounts from half to double the installed.

i have heard that some mobos have problems with dimms that have too many chips on them

some of the older 128mb PC100 chips would have problems if running as a CL=2 ( latency )check your bios and see if SPD is enabled for the SDRAM, if not enable it, also if it does show CL=2, then change it to CL=3. I wouldn't mix SDRAM with two defferent latency RE: 2T/3T if you do DISABLE SPD and set the latency to 3T and see if that helps. Sorry not much help, try one chip at a time and make sure they are both good, this would be a good time to check BIOS and see what the latency is for each SDRAM, providing both SDRAM have SPD?
