I am running Windows 98 on a Pentium 233. The video drivers are SiS5597/5598 using a Compaq 410e monitor. I can not change the monitor settings. After I make the change and try to reboot, I get a fatal OD error 0337:00005603. I had these drivers loaded by the dealer and when he used his monitor on my computer, everything worked fine. But when my monitor is hooked up, I can't change settings even though the device manager recognizes that its a Compaq 410e on SiS 5597/5598 drivers. I've seen this problem posted on numerous boards, but I've never seen a solution that works, short of buying a driver card. Any help would be appreciated

I am having the similar problem finding these drivers for a packard bell that a friend of mine has. I am ready to kick his machine.. I found that I couldn't use the SIS 5597/5598 drivers on his computer. I am still searching for older drivers or something compatible that works even half ***.. Hey did anyone visit packard bell's website. I know they went out of buisness but damn I do feel for the people that actually bought computers from them. Well if anyone knows of better drivers let me know..
Thanks

Not a solution, just a comment...
I used a computer here at work with an Asus SP97-V (SiS 5597/98 on-board video) for a couple of years. I had similar trouble with the Win9x display driver - I couldn't adjust the refresh rate. It showed refresh rates all the way from 56Hz to 85Hz as being compatible, but changing the setting made no difference - it looked like the refresh rate wasn't being changed at all. So, no matter how I had it set up, I had to live with a flickery (is that a word?) display.
I ended up installing WinNT 4.0 on that computer. When I installed the video driver and set the refresh to 85Hz it looked perfect - no more flicker! And when I upgraded to Win2000 I had the same good results.
Conclusion - the Win95/98 driver for the SiS 5597/98 is crappy. And I never did find a solution. Have you tried the latest/greatest drivers directly from SiS?
