I have a Fujitsu LifeBook 765tx with a 166, 32 megs RAM, 2 meg video card. What tipped me the problem is that I just got Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and it installs fine but everytime I goto play it or start the game it doesnt even open a window much less give me an error message. So I am guessing after going to the website for the game that it is my drivers even though they didnt have the same problem I had or even a very close one. All the drivers I have for the omputer right now are certified for DirectX7 here are the version numbers and types of vidoe and sound cars I think are the problem:

Video card is made by Trident Microsystems modle number is 9685/9680/9682/9385/9382/9385-1 PCI
the DirectX version numbers and Driver information are:
Main Driver: trid_pci.drv
Version #4.10.00.1682
Mini VDD: trid_pci.vdx
VDD: *vdd,*vflatd

My sound card is a ES1879 Control Interface (WDM)
or a ES1879 Plugand Play AudioDrive (WDM)either one of which is made by ESS Tehnology Inc.
DirectX version numbers and drivers are:
Name: ESS.SYS
Version # 4.10.00.2222
Other Files: ESS.SYS
Provider Microsoft

Both are certified but I have no clue why I am having thi problem now. I have E-Mailed the company (EA) about it and am waiting for a reply. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey demonlord, It may be one of those games that HAVE to have an 800x600 resolution. Your system meets the requirements BUT, If you have a lot of other stuff running, you may not have enough physical memory to run it. Go to start, programs, system tools, system information, when the window opens, go to tools. then system configuration, startup, Uncheck all that isn't necessary, reboot, make sure you are using 899x600 and try again.???? Be careful. But don't worry too much. If you uncheck something that is necessary, you can always check it again.
