I have a problem with my new monitor. When I raise the graphic level on my desktop to 1280 by 1024 I start getting a double image. I have downloaded new drivers for my monitor yet it still doesn't fix the problem. I have downloaded drivers for my graphics card(gforce 256)and that doesn't fix it either. Does anyone know whether it could be the monitor or the graphics card that is causing this? Also just in case you needs to know I have a 21" compaq 110 monitor that I bought used.

If it still does it have you got the right drivers installed?

NooNoo, that is my monitor and everything maches up. The driver web page is the exact one I downloaded my driver from for it. My brother looked at it right before I looked and found that you had replyed. He says that the cable is old. The cable doesn't have any filters for it and he says that might just be the problem. Do you know where I can by a new vidio cable for it? Thanks for the help.

Does it disconnect at both ends?
If so, any good computer shop will be able to help you... if not you are looking to find a monitor repair guy to replace it for you.

Hang on a mo......
I pressume the monitor displays a 'correct' image at some resolution.......?
If so it ain't the cable, they either work or not, the monitor takes the signal and does all the refresh stuff inside the box. The existing cable will be designed to accept signal that the monitor can interpret into whatever by whatever @ whatever resolution, it ain't gonna suddenly start only doing part of that, surely!!!?

I didnt just do this, it has been doing since I got it. And you are correct, anything below the resolution I mentioned it works just fine.

It could be going bad. I've had monitors before that worked at hi-res for a long time and then quit working right, they would still work at lower-res though.
