I have a pentium III 500, and I have a problem that means that I have vertical coloured lines running down my screen. The lines are present in the bios and in windows 98.
My PC uses power saving to turn itself off if left idle for more than an 45 minutes. On the day the problem started I used my PC to check and send emails, left it and came back to find the problem.
I have put another monitor on the and the same thing occurs. Any suggests on how to deal with the problem?

What happens if you disable the power saving features and then reboot? Do the lines go away?

I read today that some motherboards are not completely ACPI (Power savings) compliant with Win98. You can get around this by diabling the power saving features in your BIOS, and then use Win98's power saving features to manage your PC.

Hope this helps...
