For a while now I have only been able to get no higher than 16 bit colours on my computer. I've went from a Voodoo Banshee up to a Voodoo 3 recently and it just won't go higher. I can select 32 bit colour on the settings, but it doesn't go to 32 bit. Is there something wrong? I have an Azura 15A+ Monitor..
There is another computer here with the same video card, but a different monitor, and has the same problem...

? You did install the drivers for the new video card?

Yes, I have..I even downloaded the new drivers from the site, but to no avail.
The only thing I can think of is that the Voodoo 3 doesn't run higher than 16 bit, or my monitor doesn't.

Try setting your monitor to one of the CTX (Chuntex Devices) via the Display settings. It could be that the monitor you have selected has not got the 32bit colour information that is needed. Is there any real reason why you need to run 32bit colour? The human eye can only see 16bit colour anyway. I know that I cannot tell the difference between the 2 settings apart from I have to set a lower refesh rate for my monitor causing it to flicker slightly.

I was just telling my collegues "did you know that the human eye can only see..." when one of the smarter types piped up, "yeah but 32 bit is where all your in game transparencies come into play." Just some bright spark I thought might be of interest.

I don't think I really need the 32 bit colours, other than the compatibility between some programs, can help some. I just wanted to know why I couldn't get it for the most part. I'll try out that monitor thing.
