If you can tell what type of connection you have I can probably help.
Using it with a cable modem that is feeding a hub.
Well, let's see....that didn't really answer his question.
But I'll give it a shot...
Win98, the command is "ipconfig /release_all"
Win2000, it is "ipconfig /release"
WinME, it is "ipconfig /release_all"
Other than that, you'd have to tell us a little about your connection. Examples of answers that would help us help you:
1. Which IP are you trying to release? the cable modem's? the hub's? your computer?
2. Is DHCP enabled on your computer?
3. What other connections do you have that might come into play?
4. What have you tried other than winipcfg and /release at the DOS prompt, if anything?
5. What actually happens when you try to release the IP? Does it simply return to the command prompt? Does it give you an error?
6. Are you using your ISP's DNS server? or your own private DNS server?
7. Internal or Internet?
