winsock2
Ello everyone
OK I have had this problem before but this doesn't seem to be going away, a customer bought in his PC complaining that it would connect to the net but then he couldn't browse any pages (yep that old chestnut) he did a clean re-install of Win 2000 and only installed the dial-up account, same problem.
Checking through the registry I discovered a Winsock2 folder which I am pretty sure shouldn't be there, deleting it or renaming it does no good as it puts it back in instantly.
I dicovered a virus which I cleaned off the PC, still no joy, so I fdisked and did another fresh install, the winsock2 folder is still there.
Any suggestions on how to beat this? its beginning to drive me insane!
cheers people.

If you take the period off the end of your link, it might work better... ;)

Interesting thing just happened, I was restarting the PC when a windows box popped up saying application still running do you want to end now or wait?
The application was called "you should not see me" sounds like spyware to me, anyone seen this before? And how did it get on the pc when it has been completely wiped, reinstalled and had no disks or been on the net since then?

"should not see me" is likely to be debug code that a programmer has forgotten to remove from an application. You could always try virus, trojan and spyware scans, but the name doesn't automatically mean it's suspect.
It is also possible that the name could show up in an Explorer search of all the files on the drive(s) for that text. (That is, if it was the name of a process, it may appear in a file as the Public Name declaration for a module.) By this means you may be able to identify what application it belongs to.
