Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get a driver to make my external cdrw (scsi) recognizable by my laptop via the parallel port? I heard this can be done.
Thanks,

your not gonna get a scsi cd-rom drive to work on a parallel port. scsi and parallel ports are 2 very different things, even if your cable fits, it still will not work.
You need a scsi to parrallel converter - try ebay - it is cheaper and easier (less headaches) to just buy an external IDE/Parrallel CD-Rom box - about $80 on ebay.
If you've got a SCSI CD-RW, you should really take advantage of it.
If you've got an open PC card slot, try getting a SCSI card.
If not, then go with the above suggestion. Although if a SCSI to USB converter is available that may be a better idea.
Ebay also has USB to SCSI cables - just search (I found several by browsing laptop accessories.)
Not sure if they even exist, but a Firewire to SCSI converter would really let you take advantage of the full speed of your SCSI CDRW, but you're going to not only need a firewire port (you can buy add in cards but you might as well just get the SCSI card) but that converter must exist!
