F:\ is not accessible—incorrect function
Hi Guys,
Recently purchased and installed a LG GSA-4081B (an oem dvd/cd reader/writer combo drive). Using a P4 2.0, 512 megs ram, 64mb geforce 4 mx computer from dell, figured it'd be trouble free as the drive was advertised as 'plug and play'.
Playing dvd movies proved to go smoothly. Everything lookin good. However, problems soon arose. When i inserted a blank Maxwell DVD+R into the drive (my F:\), the 'My Computer' screen changed from a DVD drive to a CD-ROM drive...attempting to open this drive...i got the error: "F:\ is not accessible—incorrect function ". Maxwell DVD+R is one of the LG recommended media type for this drive and i tried several of the dvds. Unless they were all broken, i suspect the problem lies elsewhere. I checked out the LG websites for newer drivers and found nothing. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Help please!
Tom
Thanks, thanks, and thanks!
Hey guys,
Turns out that the switchin the drive to master thing actually worked out. Being used to being able to burn CDs through windows explorer, i mistakenly thought it'd be the same for DVDs. Turns out i hafta use nero. While the drive still shows up as two seperate drives (the E: of which i've yet to see a use for), i am now, thanks to all your help, able to see and burn DVDs. Once again, thank you all for your time and efforts, i truly appreciate it.
If anyone is curious about the two drive thing, i'm more then willing to tinker around and try to get to the bottom of the problem. Respond here or pm me and we can attempt to figure it out. If not, once again, thanks. The speedy and professional nature of you all is unrivalled by anything else i've seen.
Cheers,
Tom
