WinXPpro reformat lost Ethernet Controller driver! Need assistance please!

I have reformatted my HP pavilion 541c with winxp pro. This worked and cleaned up the problems I was having after installing SP2 on the old os (xp home) however, the Ethernet Controller hardware is found but cannot find a driver to make it work. I have inserted the xp disk but still can't find a driver. I contacted HP for the driver and they just want to mail me their original software setup that came with the computer (along with all the backweb connectivity n stuff) and I prefer not to do that.

Is there any other way to restore my Ethernet Controller so that my dsl router will work? right now I'm on my old local dial up account. eek! it's soooo slow.

any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

try there , theres some info for you about sp1 and sp2 aswell as lots of software drivers and patches, for that particular system of yours.
