Common Printer Driver
I have a client (Doctors) who have 2 office they go to all the time. One office has a HP Laserjet 1300 printer on a print server. The other office has a HP Laserjet 2200 on a share connected to another PC. They would like for me to put the 2200 on a print server with the same IP so the Doctors don't have to keep changing default printers. Is there a driver I could load that would be compatible with both printers. I have heard the Laserjet 4 driver would work. Any help appreciated.

LJ4 would have been my thought, lots of models seem to preserve LJ4 backwards compatibility.
The HP forums suggest if you have trouble with LJ2200 drivers, try as alternatives:
LJ4V, LJ4+, LJ4000, LJ4050, LJ2100
For the LJ1300, a post here:

says:
"as a printer technician, i can tell you that a lot of older laserjet drivers work on newer models
eg. one of the office printers got upgraded from a LJ4P to a LJ1300, but was getting garbled printouts with the new 1300 driver. switched back to LJ4 driver, and it worked fine."
So looks like LJ4 should work for both. Some more advanced features may not be available.

Thanks Platypus, that means I only have install drivers on 10 different machines now. Appreciate the help.
