i have an old mtsu****a-kotobuki cd-rom with no markings for jumpers and back label in german. does any one know how to set the jumper for this as a periphreal? and what is it?

If this is one of the CR-56x series of CD-ROM drive (with a proprietary 40-pin interface) then the factory default jumper setting should be just fine. Just make sure that you install the correct drivers. If you need drivers for Panasonic drives, go here:

I did a search on your FCC ID # but it didn't turn up anything. Do you see a model # on the drive? It should be something starting with CR... such as CR-563 or CR-574.
