[RESOLVED] KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and win3k.sys problems, memory dump? errors - please read

i get this error on the BSOD:

ok first - does anyone know what the hell this means? can anyone please help me i am going insane i have been fighting this computer for it seems like forever and i can never get it to run smoothly. i looked around in my system info and i found this:

i just assumed it was to do with memory, because of the memory dump. i dont know what all the 0x00000000 stuff means so can anyone decipher what this error means?

im pretty sure its a hardware problem but i dont know what to replace. can anyone tell me what device is defective? (if any)

There are so many different things that could cause this.
Make sure you have all the most recent microsoft approved drivers for the installed hardware.
Run a search on KMode_exception_not_handled win32k.sys and any 3rd party software you are running on the box. (NAV, Domino, PCAnywhere etc) on www.google.com

what you see above is a hex dump and is a great troubleshooting tool if you know how to read it and here is how.

the first string of characters; 0x0000001E, is the stop bit that threw the dump, all the rest in the () are the parameters that get passed to that stop bit.

go to the MS knowledge base, choose your os then enter the stop bit as a search criteria. most of the time a stop bit error has a KB article for it and what could be causing this problem. the article may also breakdown the troubleshooting even further by narrowing down the problem with an explanation of one of the parameters, usually the third or fourth parameter.

takes a little detective work but once you learn how to read the dumps it could save you a lot of grief.

im running the nero burning rom, and i just installed that it works great ive gotten these errors before.
