PB-60 smoke damage
I have a Packard Bell 60Mhz Pentium in the shop that rececntly went through a fire. Since the fire the customer has had all kinds of problems, including a lot of fatal exceptions on boot up and elsewhere. I know smoke can do some weird things to electronics, so any opinions on salvageability? Is it worth trying to salvage anything? He does have 40mb ram and a 6.4 WD hard drive. Thanks for your commemts and opinions

clean the inside of the system well because some of the reside bay be conductive. Clean any simms and card edges and other contact points.

It depends on how much heat the system was exposed to. My opinion on salvagability, from most to least, would be HD, CPU, MB, mem. Make sure you check ventilation because smoke tends to gum up fans. Good luck.

The only thing you could salvage on a Packard Bell, before any fire, would be the floppy drive.
Maybe the fire made improvements.
