No sound
I am using windows vista, my sound has stopped all of a sudden. When i use windows media player. I get the message that something is wrong with my speakers, i have tried to update my driver and a realtek driver was added. I have two dell computers and i did not think they used realtek sound drivers. So, i have 2 different drivers listed in device manager and no sound. I was getting a lot of updates for my computer and think the updates may have messed up something, but i cannot figure out what update to delete.

By far the simplest fix is to use Windows System Restore to roll Windows back to a point in time when your computer was functioning correctly. It allows you to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.
If that doesn't help, try restoring an earlier system image or backup.

Thanks a lot, now my computer sounds good.

My sound has stopped working again, i have cut off automatic updates, except for anti-virus updates. Is there anyway to fix this problem, is there a limit amount of time that system restore can be used?

AFAIK, no, there is no limit. If that doesn't work for some reason though, try restoring an earlier system image or backup. No suitable restore point, backup, or image available? Kick yourself -- you missed the easy solution, and you're left with digging through Windows' many settings. :(
